Mindfulness-Based Therapy (MBT)

Simple Practices With Big Results

What is mindfulness?

Mindfulness means maintaining a moment-by-moment awareness of our thoughts, feelings, bodily sensations, and surrounding environment. It is the process of developing our focus of being in the here and now. MBT helps people separate themselves from their thoughts and moods, and teaches them how to be less reactive to their feelings.

Some mindfulness-based practices include: meditation, breathing exercises, walking, exercise, yoga, observing your thoughts, journaling, and letting go of distractions.

Some of the benefits of Mindfulness

  • Reduced stress — literally. Research  shows that mindfulness is not only associated with feeling less stressed, but also when people practice mindfulness, their bodies produce less stress hormones.
  • Better emotional  control
  • Increased focus
  • Increased flexibility when things do not go the way we expect.
  • Improved sleep
